Tips For Maintaining SPC Floors

SPC floors are a popular choice for flooring today, they are very durable and can even last up to 20 years with proper maintenance.

So what should you do to better maintain your SPC floor?

1. Frequent cleaning

Regular cleaning is a proven way to help keep your SPC floors in top condition. You can sweep with a regular broom, or take a more technical approach with brushless vacuums and electric brooms. You can sweep at least once a week to remove any dust and loose dirt.

2. Occasional mopping

Sometimes, just sweeping the floor isn't enough. To better keep floors clean and stain-free, use a damp cloth or mop and clean thoroughly with a mild or neutral pH solution to remove stains. Do not risk mopping floors with multi-surface cleaners, bleach, cleaners, strong abrasive cleaners such as organic solvents, ammonium or alcohol-based cleaners. However, keep in mind that you shouldn't mop the floor so often that it darkens the gloss of the tile.

3. Say no to steam cleaning

Steam cleaning is very convenient because you can quickly clean, sanitize and dry in one go without using chemical cleaners. However, hot steam cleaning can actually do more harm than good for SPC floors. When steam cleaners sanitize your floors, the steam produced can reach over 90 degrees Celsius, and this superheat and moisture that seeps into SPC floor joints and edges can weaken the bond and layer count of the plank or tile structure. Not only that, but it can also cause problems such as floor warping, edge warping, bending and blistering.

4. Apply floor polish

Polishing your floors can definitely help keep your floors shiny and shiny. First, sweep the floor to remove any debris and dust so that dirt doesn't stick to the floor when mopping. Then, mop to remove any stains that may be sticking to the floor. Finally, give your floors a new look with SPC Floor polish. But don't do this too often.

5. Keep away from direct heat

SPC floors are sensitive to heat. Any direct heat from matches, heating equipment, and cigarette butts can cause scarring or damage. When you handle hot items, be sure to support the hot surface with a rug or mat and not touch your SPC floor directly.
